History and Founders of Madrasah Tajweedul Quran

Late Qari Mohammed Suleman, Founder of Madrasah Tajweedul Qur’an

Late Qari Muhammad Suleman was a well known name in the field of Hifz (Memorization of Quran) and Qirat (Act of reciting Quran). Popularly known as Qari Sahib, he founded the Delhi-based Madrasah Tajweedul Qur’an, a reputed centre for Hifz and Qiraat, particularly Qirat-e-Saba (7 Ways to Recite Quran).

Hailing from Mewat, he after finishing his studies became in 1947 Imam of Masjid Takiya Wali at Azad Market in the heart of Delhi. A visionary ahead of his times, he dedicated his life to serving his community and thereby the cause of Islam.

Being a teacher, he understood the importance and value of education and recognized that this was how he could serve his community best. Qari Sahib began with just three students at Masjid Takia Wali. His popularity as an ardent teacher grew with time and a one-time small madrasah eventually took shape of the institution, internationally known as Madrasah Tajweedul Qur'an. The one factor that worked behind this was the dedication and vision of this forward-thinking educationist.

Qari Sahib passed away on October 17, 2002. After his death, the responsibility of the madrasah fell upon the shoulders of late Qari Sahib's sons, Qari Muhammad Hasan, Qari Mahmoodul Hasan and Qari Matloob Hasan. Well aware of the modern systems of functioning and having knowledge of modern education, Qari Mahmoodul Hasan, late Qari Sahib's second son, is in the forefront in running the affairs of the madrasah with perfection.

The Islamic seminary is making progress leaps and bounds under his able guidance. Spread over an area of over twenty six hundred square yards, the madrasah, being rebuilt and renovated now, is presently imparting education to over 350 students hailing from all parts of the country. It provides education, meals, clothes and residence to all its students free of any charge. Since its inception the madrasah has been running on voluntary aids. It does not have any representative, nor does it have any source of regular income.
